Requirement
The Workplace Fire Precautions legislation forms a set of dedicated fire regulations. All businesses with 5 or more employees are required to hold a written risk assessment and have an emergency plan. Employers are required to provide means for detecting & giving warning in case of fire.
BS5839 regulations require the undertaking of periodic checks to ensure the functionality of the system along with a log book to be kept that details the type of fire alarm system with checks.
The fire brigade have the authority to close any building that fails to keep a fire alarm system in working order.
